Making the Most of Kindermusik® Classes

  • Plan to arrive about 5-10 minutes early for class. Arriving a little before class provides time for your child to settle in to the musical environment as they prepare to enjoy exploring instruments, reading books, or listening to music.
  • Please check your mobile before heading off to class in the event of a sudden class cancellation (eg. teacher is sick)
  • If you are attending a Village class, please bring along a small blanket to lay your baby on for massage time.
  • We do request that toys, juice cups and dummies be kept out of sight and that snacks be finished prior to class.
  • Toilets are located upstairs in the AIPA building. At this point in time, there are no nappy changing facilities. Your teacher will direct you to a suitable change area and request that dirty nappies are taken away to be disposed of.
  • Prams may be left downstairs in the hall next to the foyer if preferred.
  • Please dress comfortably and be prepared to take your shoes and socks off. Barefoot is best for children in any movement program but if you would like them to wear socks, please make sure that they have rubber grips on them.
  • During Class, the most important thing you can do for your child is to be an active patient role model. It is not uncommon for a child to attend several classes before feeling comfortable in class. Don't be discouraged - what a child is absorbing in class is often evident in the comfort of the home environment rather that in a certain level of participation in class. The understanding and consistency of the parent or caregiver in class and at home are key to facilitating musical learning and growth.
  • You and your child will enormously benefit from the Kindermusik experience, especially if you can make active use of your At Home Materials. Frequent reinforcement at home throughout the week - playing the music, singing the songs, doing the suggested activities - makes all the difference in a child's comfort and participation in the classroom.
  • Please do not hesitate to contact me by e-mail or phone if I can be of further help. I look forward to having you and your child join us for a great semester of Kindermusik classes!
